Child Day Celebrations in Samrong Tong District Kompong Speu Province

The 60th anniversary of the International Chil Day celebrations 1st June 2009, His Majesty the King always caring for the Cambodian children, was visiting an orphanage located in Trapeang Tralat, in Samrong Tong district in Kompong Speu province and other orphans from Poor People’s Hope Union, Prey Chrom village, Yuth Samaki commune, Oudong district, in Kompong Speu province. The Palace dignitaries had prepared royal gifts for the orphans from the two centres estimated at 85 children: breakfast with noodles, cakes, canned juice. In 1st of June morning, His Majesty the King visited Trapeang Tralat village, in Kompong Speu province, to have talk with and donate the poor orphans from the two centres as His Majesty gave great significance to this Child Day. Each child out of the 85 present on this occasion received from the King: - A T shirt and trousers - A school uniform: white shirt and blue trousers - A T shirt donated by the King, the King-Father and the Queen-Mother. - A hat - A pair of shoes - A copy book with the King’s picture on the cover - 2 copy books with the King-Father picture and the 50th Independence Anniversary. - Pens and pencils - Parkets of food and Toys, a school bag, a moskito net, a blanket, a scarf, food, fruit and bottles of water with 20,000 riels. 17 nurses received also royal donations: 1 sarong, 1 scarf, 2 sampots in silk. Materal for men clothes and 50,000 riels Each orphanage received: 3, 000 kg rice, and 50 kg salt, 50 chairs and 10 tables The King was visiting the orphanage kitchen. dormitory, class rooms and children refectory. There was also an artificial fish pond. His Majesty the King took to heart the orphans way of life and congratulated nurses and tutors for their effort in sustaining the children living conditions for a better future.
